2013 Summer Hiring

Gray Plant Mooty 1L Minority Summer Associate Program

The Minneapolis office of Gray Plant Mooty recruits 1L law students of color to participate in its Summer Associate Program. For 2013, Gray Plant Mooty’s Minneapolis office will hire one 1L summer associate. During the approximately 10 weeks of summer, our 1L summer associate will participate fully in our Summer Associate Program. Work assignments may come from any of our practice groups and will usually involve substantive legal research, analysis, and writing. In addition to the work aspects of a law firm, our summer associates often take on a pro bono project and participate in various social activities that allow each of them to get to know the attorneys of Gray Plant Mooty in more informal settings.

Twin Cities Diversity in Practice’s 1L Summer Rotation Clerkship

Gray Plant Mooty’s Minneapolis office will hire one 1L student for the Twin Cities Diversity in Practice’s 1L Summer Rotation Clerkship. This 10 week program provides 1L students of color with an opportunity to work at a law firm and spend one “rotation” (typically 3 weeks) working in the law department of a major corporation. The summer clerk in this program will participate fully in our Summer Associate program while at our firm.  Additional details regarding our summer program can be found above. For additional information on this program, please visit the Twin Cities Diversity in Practice website.

Application Procedure
Interested 1L law students should submit a cover letter, resume, undergraduate transcript, law school transcript with first semester grades (updated later as necessary), and legal writing sample.  Please reference in your letter if you are interested in applying for the GPM Minority Summer Program, the Twin Cities Diversity in Practice Summer Rotation Clerkship, or both programs.  If applying for the Twin Cities Diversity in Practice clerkship, please provide the additional information in your letter:
1. Why are you interested in the Twin Cities legal market?
2. What do you hope to gain from a summer split between a law firm and corporate legal department?

Applications should be e-mailed to:
Kristin Manikowski, Recruiting Coordinator
Kristin.manikowski@gpmlaw.com

Applications will be accepted beginning December 1, 2012. Gray Plant Mooty will begin reviewing applications for both programs as soon as they are received. The deadline to apply for either program is January 15, 2013.
