Worthen, David

David is a principal at Gray Plant Mooty and member of the Franchise & Distribution and Business & General Litigation practice groups. He has extensive experience in franchise litigation, particularly issues involving underreporting of sales, tax fraud, unapproved products, defamation, trademark violations, covenants not to compete, encroachment, nonpayment, and vicarious liability. David focuses on standards enforcement litigation, having successfully litigated more than 500 cases. He has presented on standards enforcement at the International Franchise Association Legal Symposium and the American Bar Association (ABA) Forum on Franchising and written numerous articles for franchise publications.

Previously, David practiced telecommunications law and civil litigation at three prominent firms in Washington, DC. He litigated cases involving patent infringement, insurance coverage, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and the ownership of television and radio stations.
