GPM Sponsors Firmwide Read in Coordination with One Minneapolis, One Read
One Minneapolis, One Read is the city’s first community-wide event in which everyone is invited to read the same book and participate in events and join in a community conversation. This year's book was Spirit Car: Journey to a Dakota Past, by Minnesotan Diane Wilson. The narrative follows five generations of Wilson's family, starting with the account of her great-great-grandmother during the 1962 Dakota War with Minnesota.
Gray Plant Mooty sponsored a firmwide read in coordination with the One Minneapolis, One Read where all members of the firm were encouraged to read and discuss Spirit Car. Many were able to participate in facilitated discussions about the book, which resulted in open and honest conversations about race, the impact of the Dakota War on Native Americans, and on Minnesota History.
